What happens to a person when they die? It is one of the most asked and least understood questions in all of life and for the Christian, it entails the idea of a resurrection. Every Christian denomination—and there are many—believe one simple truth: the tomb was empty after the crucifixion of Jesus. We often hear sermons where the focus is on the cross and the resurrection is mentioned only in passing. But when you really get into the meat of the Word of God, the Bible clearly shows that the resurrection of Jesus was the gospel message preached by the Apostles and not the Cross.

Sadly, the Believers only seem to get excited about the resurrection once a year at Easter time. In reality, every Sunday should be Resurrection Sunday. The early Church met on the first day of the week to celebrate Jesus' defeat of death. Imagine the impact from consciously gathering every week to celebrate the resurrection…

And in that vein, we need to seek to arrive at a clear biblical understanding of this particular question regarding what happens to a person when they die. It is my earnest prayer that we, together, could arrive at a much better understanding of this subject.
