This story shows that following God is not always easy, yet He can bring beauty through hardship.
From humble beginnings in an Amish carpenter family to years of missionary service in an isolated wilderness area, the author’s life includes pain and loss, but also deep joy and satisfaction. Trusting that God was in control brought peace instead of anxiety and helped steady each step into an uncertain future. Through it all, God remained faithful and continued to raise up committed followers. Partnering with people of another language and culture became both a privilege and a lesson in grace, laughter, forgiveness, and love. Over nearly seven decades, Henry Hostetler witnessed dramatic changes in life, education, culture, and language on isolated reservations. Though the pace of change was often unsettling, strong leadership within the Community helped guide the way.

About the Author:
Henry Hostetler has spent seventy years living in the bush country of northwestern Ontario. For fifty of those years, he shared that life and work with his late wife, Mary Jane.
