How do we laugh, play, and enjoy times with our family when someone very special to us has died? The feeling of missing a loved one is often most intense during family gatherings, such as dinners and special occasions like birthdays and Christmas.
This story, written for both children and adults, shares the different ways in which family members cope with the loss of their son, brother, uncle, husband, and grandson, all from a child’s playful perspective. Most importantly, it highlights the eternal hope we have through Jesus’s death and resurrection for all who trust in Him as their Saviour.
Discover how this hope helps the family heal and how it may help your family find healing in your own grief journey.

Tom and Tricia Hack cherish their roles as parents and grandparents to their wonderful family. In 2022, their twenty-four-year-old son, David, died unexpectedly from a rare autoimmune disease. Although they and their family deeply miss David’s loving and playful presence, they hold tightly to the hope Jesus gives and pray that others will find comfort in that same hope.
