This book presents the story of a pastor and his family. God called them to grow a church in a spiritually dark and needy place where the people were influential and affluent. It’s not meant to be an abnormal or exceptional story, but one to which every Jesus-follower can relate. This is a down-to-earth account of how God responds to faith and uses pain and adversity to fulfill his purposes in ordinary and extraordinary ways.

About the Author:

David S. Payne is a family man and pastor of forty-five years. For thirty-three of those years, he was the founding and lead pastor of the Campus Church, a multisite congregation in Aurora, Ontario. He draws from his own personal journey, experience as a pastor and Bible teacher, and extensive travel in biblical lands studying its sites, people, and cultures. David has written two previous books, Hitting the Wall: Finding Perspective When Life Stops Working and Run! The Amazing Race.
